Ella’s Hope Donates $5,000 to KRCC

Ella’s Hope for Autism recently donated $5,000 to the Kenny Rogers Children Center located in Sikeston, MO. The Center will put the funding into their Autism intervention program and therapy.

Thanks to Rob and all the great people at Smashburger in Overland Park, KS. We had a great time on April 26th and raised $647.55 for Ella’s Hope. We plan on doing it again on May 24th at the Olathe and Lawrence locations. More details to come.

Ella’s Hope donates $10,000 to Thompson Center

Dr. Bregman and Hope McPheeters at the MU Thompson Center for Autism. They are standing in the Family Resource Center which will be known as “Ella’s Hope Family Resource Library” at the Thompson Center over the next five years. The naming opportunity was extended to Ella’s Hope for pledging our efforts, time and resources over the next five year for the early intervention of ASD.

Hope is presenting Dr. Bregman with a check for the first installment of $10,000 donated from Ella’s Hope, after a winning a $25K grant from the Pepsi Refresh project.

Ella’s Hope Launch Party

Ella’s Hope had it’s official Launch Party on March 18th at D. Rowe’s Back Room.

The party was very informal and open to whoever wanted to come. The crowd was steady all night and everyone was able to enjoy some refreshments, appetizers, cake and some March Madness on the big screens.

We want to thank everyone for showing up and a special thanks to David and Meghan for making sure everyone was happy with food and beverage.

We finally received our paperwork from the IRS and have been approved as a 501 (c)(3) charity in Missouri.

We waited for six months, but finally got the ruling on January 24th 2011. Much thanks to John and Debbie at Williams Keepers, LLC in Columbia for helping us get our paperwork ready and in order. These guys are amazing if you need an accountant in Columbia, MO. Highly recommended.

Vaccine Study coined an “Elaborate Fraud”

Just read this on MSN about Dr. Wakefield and his vaccine study. It is now being coined as an “elaborate fraud” because apparently there was misrepresented documentation within the study (and with the children observed).

Interesting read however, especially if it effected your thoughts on this matter. Even though we never fully believed this to be true, we still put our second child on a “alternate vaccine schedule” – to avoid any potential chance that it were true. Really don’t know if it is helping or not.

We are still in the running for the Pepsi Refresh Project for September. We finished 23rd last month, up from 46th the month before. So this month we are going to do it.

We have teamed with 9 other groups, and formed the Animals and Autism Alliance. So this is the month we do it.

We’ve added a cool service called Textmarks, where we can send out a daily reminder to your cell phone to vote. It’s very easy to use. Just look to the right (in the sidebar) and you can subscribe now.

Still In the Running (Pepsi Refresh Project)

The Good News . . . since we finished in the Top 50, our cause was automatically renewed again for this month. And now we are up to 33rd place early on. We made a late push last month, and jumped from 92nd to 42nd in one week to close out the month. Mainly by teaming with other Autism causes around the country.

So please vote again this month. You can vote 3 different ways, every day (facebook, email, text). So we would appreciate at least one vote a day, if possible. The easiest thing to do, is just add it to your outlook or google calendar “as a daily reminder” and then take 30 seconds to vote.
